Kihon Happo — The Eight Basic Forms
Kihon Happo is the foundational set of eight techniques that open Bujinkan training. Kihon means “basics” and happo means “eight directions.” The set covers the three core strikes — koshi kudaki (crushing the hip), ganseki nage (throwing the boulder), and omote gyaku (front reverse lock) — plus their variations. These forms teach distance, timing, body shape, and how to move an attacker through the eight directions of space. At Zero Point Ocala, the Kihon Happo are the spine of the beginner curriculum, practiced as exact forms first and then opened into free application.
